Jessica has B.A. in Applied Social Sciences, and a background in social work. She currently owns and operates a successful dog training business. She is the mother of Maya, who is 8 years old. Jessica's interests include taking care of the earth and helping others achieve what they came here to experience. She has homeschooled her daughter for the duration of her education so far, and loves it. She was integral in creating Prism when there were no other desirable options that suited her family, and enjoys watching the kids grow and learn together, at the pace that suits them best. She teaches different types of classes, ranging from practical math and meditation, to tribal crafts and recycling.
June Wells is a mother of three and in addition to teaching at Prism she serves as co-chair on the board. Her homeschool journey began over 11 years ago after public school didn’t offer the best fit for her oldest child. After years of adapting homeschool methods to meet her children’s needs she is devoted to helping others do the same. June teaches a range of classes but especially enjoys science and social studies classes with hands on components. She resides in Harrisonburg with her husband, children, and their dogs.

Sarah Mays majored in Biology, receiving a bachelor’s degree of science from James Madison University and she enjoys sharing what she learned with kids. Her hope is that the classes she facilitates inspire interest, and present information so that it is retained, and that the kids enjoy themselves. Sarah considers the opportunity to “teach” a privilege, especially in a community setting like Prism. The handsome, witty little boy with the blonde hair is her son.
Milly Blanchette is a parent, teacher, and co-chairs the board at Prism. Her passion for art, history, cooking, and organizing come through in the classes she teaches and the day to day running of the coop. Milly and her husband Jeremy have called the Valley home for over a decade and are happy to be raising their two children here.
Karen has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Oregon and a love of all things related to learning and education. She started homeschooling when she realized the public school system was not meeting the needs of her daughter. When she is not at Prism or exploring the world with her daughter Madelyn, she can probably be found gardening, playing with her dog, or hanging out with the chickens.
